One design, three ways to hang it

A 3D-printed plaque

Every layer of the design becomes a raised step: water sunk into the base, then land, parks, streets, main roads, buildings and the lettering on top. On a multi-colour printer, load the 3MF and give each named part its filament. On a single-colour printer, swap filament at the heights listed after you build it.

A laser-cut board

One engraved board, or two layered boards with the water cut out of the top one so the base shows through. The SVG is drawn at real size in millimetres and opens in LightBurn, xTool Creative Space, the Glowforge app or Inkscape. Red cuts, blue scores, and each kind of map feature engraves on its own colour.

A poster

Drawn from OpenStreetMap data, not a screenshot, so it stays sharp at any size. The PNG is 300 dpi for a print shop or photo lab; the SVG and PDF are vectors with the lettering turned into outlines.

Materials and framing

3 mm birch ply or MDF suits most laser beds; a dark stain before engraving makes the streets stand out. Plaques print well in PLA at 0.2 mm layers. Want the full terrain instead of a flat city map? Open the TerraPrinter app.
