How the skyline is made

A real horizon, not a drawing

From the viewpoint you pick, we cast a sightline every tenth of a degree or finer across the elevation data, as far as 200 km, and keep the steepest angle on each one. Earth's curvature and normal atmospheric refraction are included, so a distant range sinks below nearer ridges just as it does in a photo. Fine elevation tiles are used close to you and coarser ones far away.

Sized to your finger

Ring sizes follow the usual tables: US and Canadian sizes by inside diameter, UK, Irish and Australian letters and EU / ISO numbers by inside circumference. US 7 is 17.3 mm across inside. Wide bands sit tighter, so for a band over 6 mm many jewellers suggest going up a quarter or half size.

Made to be cast or printed

For metal, walls are kept to at least 0.8 mm and every peak is rounded to a radius the casting can fill; the panel warns you if a setting goes below that. Resin rings can be thinner but are more fragile. The file is designed for these limits; how it comes out in metal depends on the service and alloy.

Ideas to try

The mountain you climbed, the view from the cabin, the ridge you skied, or the skyline from where you got engaged. Earrings come in pairs, mirrored if you like, and cufflinks have a flat back for gluing a finding.
