Questions

Which plan do I need?

Pick the plan that covers your yearly sales of things made with TerraPrinter: prints, files, and products with a TerraPrinter model in them. Count what buyers paid, before costs, over the last 12 months. Under $5,000? Maker is free: just credit TerraPrinter. Move up to Shop when you grow past it. We trust you to pick the right one.

What does the free Maker plan need from me?

A visible credit, "Made with TerraPrinter (terraprinter.com)", wherever you sell: in the listing or product description online, or on a tag, card or the packaging in person. The engraved terraprinter.com on the model counts too. Keep the data credits as well. No account or sign-up needed.

What counts as commercial use?

Selling prints or files, taking commissions, client work, making products or merchandise, and using models to promote or decorate a business (signs, displays, client gifts). Personal projects, gifts for family and friends, teaching and non-profit work are free.

I made files before 1 November 2026. Do I need a license for them?

No. Anything you downloaded before 1 November 2026 keeps the free commercial license it came with, forever. Its file details say "Free for personal and commercial use". Prints made from those files are covered too.

Can I change plans or cancel?

Yes, any time, from your account page. If your sales drop under $5,000 a year, you can cancel and carry on with the free Maker plan. When you change plans the difference is pro-rated. If you cancel, your license runs to the end of the period you paid for. Things you sold while licensed stay licensed.

Does one license cover my team?

Yes. One license covers one person or one business, including everyone who works for it. A print farm or agency making things for several clients needs the Business plan.

How do buyers know I'm licensed?

Your license has its own page at terraprinter.com/license/check/ with your license number, shop name and plan. Link to it from your listings. Downloads you make while signed in also carry your license number in their file details.

Do I still need to credit anyone?

Keep the map and elevation data credits with what you sell: those come from the data's own licenses (OpenStreetMap, Copernicus and others). On the free Maker plan, credit TerraPrinter too. On Shop and Business, crediting TerraPrinter is welcome but not required. The credit lines are on the license page.

How do I pay?

By card through Stripe, monthly or yearly (yearly is two months free). Prices are in US dollars. Sales tax or VAT may be added at checkout depending on where you are. Stripe sends receipts, and you can download invoices from your account.
