About the Sagrada Família

Begun in 1882 and taken over by Antoni Gaudí a year later, the basilica has been built for well over a century. Its central Tower of Jesus Christ was completed in 2026 at 172.5 m, making it the tallest church in the world. The Glory façade, the future main entrance, is still unfinished.

What the model includes

Laid out from the basilica's OpenStreetMap outline and its mapped towers, with heights from the official figures. The eight apostle bell towers stand at their mapped heights of 98–112 m, with their mitre finials. The four Evangelist towers round the crossing are 135 m, and the Virgin Mary tower over the apse is 138 m with its star. The Tower of Jesus Christ carries its four-armed cross. The body follows the vault heights: the 30 m aisles with their pointed windows, the 45 m nave and transept with lanterns on their ridges, the 60 m crossing and the apse ringed by chapels and pinnacles. The model also has the Nativity façade's three portals and cypress, the Passion porch on its leaning columns, the sacristy dome and the unfinished Glory front. It shows the massing and silhouette rather than Gaudí's sculpture.

It is built from simple closed solids, so it slices cleanly and stands flat. In the download window you can set the height from 10 to 250 mm and add a base plate with the name in raised letters. The mesh has about 24,348 triangles, small enough to open in any slicer.

Print the Sagrada Família on its real terrain

Map data stores most buildings as a flat outline with a height, so the Sagrada Família would normally print as a plain block. In TerraPrinter, this model takes its place automatically. It is turned to match the outline in the map data and stands on the real elevation, with the streets, water and buildings around it.

Questions

Is the Sagrada Família 3D model free?

Yes. You can download the Sagrada Família as an STL or 3MF for free, without an account, and print it as many times as you like.

What size should I print the Sagrada Família?

At the default height of 120 mm it measures 61 × 75 × 120 mm. Pick any height from 10 to 250 mm before downloading. Thin parts like spires and antennas print better at 100 mm and up on a 0.4 mm nozzle.

Do I need supports?

No. The model stands flat on its base and prints upright without supports.

Can I print the Sagrada Família with the city around it?

Yes. "Print on its terrain" opens TerraPrinter with the area around the Sagrada Família selected. When you generate the model, this landmark replaces the plain block from the map data and stands on the real terrain with the surrounding streets and buildings.
